Studied in Swansea University
BSc Accounting and Finance
I wouldn’t say one specific reason attracted me to Swansea University but more of a combination of many different things. Since this was my first time leaving home, I felt like I was ready and wanted to go to a place that would be a totally different to anything I’ve experienced in the past. One reason that played a part in me choosing to come to Swansea was that I saw that it was one of the best Universities for student satisfaction among the offers I had received. With that, I continued researching all about the Uni to see what and how it made a difference in the lives of previous students. With this I eventually got excited by the fact that I saw the facilities and the different societies that interest me, and of course the location of it being beside the beach was the final piece of the puzzle.
Like many other students, I started attending classes online from Malaysia. This went on for about 7 weeks before I left to come to Swansea. The time that I’ve looked forward to for the past few months has finally come to past and it was nothing close to what I expected it to be. I was blessed with awesome people all around me which eventually helped me settle to life in Swansea. From having a friendly and inclusive flat mates (all locals), to having a family like community in the church I go to and the Malaysian and Christian society, just reminded me how home felt like. Not to mention the supportive lecturers and staff whom always offer themselves to help with any issues I may have.
I would definitely recommend Swansea Uni to anyone. Particularly for international students, they have a team dedicated to help you connect with other students. Whether it be through events, webinars and even in societies where you can meet people of similar interests. Another reason is learning different cultures, where the lifestyle of locals here might differ from how you lived before.
