The University of Strathclyde also has a long history of welcoming students from Malaysia.
It currently has an active community of around 400 Malaysian students and welcomes more than 100 new students from Malaysia each year who come to study a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Strathclyde also works closely with a number of educational institutions in Malaysia.
The Strathclyde MBA in Malaysia
Strathclyde’s triple-accredited MBA ranks in the world’s top ten.
It’s delivered in 10 international centres worldwide including in Kuala Lumpur.
International Medical Centre & Strathclyde
Strathclyde works in collaboration with IMU to run the MPharm degree in Malaysia where students can study part of their course at Strathclyde.
Since the partnership was formed with IMU 20 years ago, the University has developed courses in biomedical sciences, forensic biology and psychology.
Alumni Malaysia
Strathclyde also has a very active alumni group.
The University of Strathclyde Alumni Malaysia (USAM) has been running events since 2007.
Malaysian Students Society
Strathclyde also has a Malaysian Students Society.
It organises social events for the Malaysian community and holds an annual Malaysian Cultural Night featuring Malaysian food and colourful performances. The society also liaises with other Malaysian societies in the UK to participate in events such as the famous Nottingham Malaysian Games. Beyond the extra-curricular side of things, it also relays career events from Malaysian and Singaporean organisations such as TalentCorp and ContactSingapore.
You can get in contact with the society via email at sumsoc11@gmail.com or find them on Facebook or Instagram.
Prayer & religion
Strathclyde has a Chaplaincy within the university which caters for all religions and includes a prayer room for the Muslim Society.
There’s also a Mosque in the city centre, roughly 10-15 minutes walk from the campus.
Strathclyde International Society
Run by students, for students, the International Society is the first stop for all international students arriving at Strathclyde.
It’s the perfect place to meet new people and learn about many different countries and cultures. You can learn more about Glasgow and Scotland too.
There are weekly international pub, movie and games nights which are regularly attended by more than 100 people from countries across the world.
The International Society loves to get out of the city for a bit of sightseeing too. Recent trips have included:
- Edinburgh Zoo
- Isle of Arran
- Stonehaven
- Isle of Skye
- Ben Nevis
- Alnwick Castle (Harry Potter trip)
If you’re joining Strathclyde, you can add the Strathclyde International Society as a friend on Facebook to keep up to date with what they’re doing and where they meet. You can also email the team for any other information.
