My journey as a student at the University of Leeds began when I decided to pursue my master’s degree abroad. I searched everywhere for funding and did my best to meet their requirements. Since I was keen on marketing, I applied to several universities offering similar courses. Before starting my studies, I worked in the marketing industry for a few years.
Leeds University Business School felt like a familiar choice because I knew people who had graduated from there and heard about their experiences. Applying to this school was surprisingly straightforward, and the administration was responsive, especially since I applied early, around March, and received my acceptance before May. Leeds Business School has a strong reputation in Europe and my course, MSc. International Marketing Management, is ranked 6th in the UK and 24th in Europe in the QS World Rankings. To me, that’s a big deal, and I’m proud to be part of it.
The professors here are very supportive and dedicated to teaching. The facilities are top-notch, especially in the newly built Esther Simpson building, which opened in 2022. The study spaces in the Maurice Keyworth Building are also great, with modern amenities in a historic setting. My studies have been fantastic, thanks to the support and materials provided by the professors. I’m grateful for the career support offered by the university too. Whenever I’ve used the service, they’ve been amazing. They’ve helped me improve my job search skills and create a strong resume.
Outside of classes, life in Leeds has been amazing. The city offers so much, from cool art exhibitions to lively music festivals, giving me plenty of chances to explore and unwind. The friendly vibe on campus has helped me make some great friends from all sorts of backgrounds, making me feel like I really belong here. Looking back on my journey so far, I feel lucky to have picked University of Leeds for my master’s. It’s not just given me a great education but has also made my life so much richer. I can’t wait to see where my time here will lead me and what exciting opportunities are waiting around the corner. – Syifa, MSc. International Marketing Management 23/24
