We are excited to share that an academic senior from the University of Essex Bioscience Department, Dr Ulrike Bechtold will be conducting a hand-on workshop.

Entitled the “Genetic modification of plants and climate change”, the workshop includes extracting DNA from strawberries using everyday items. Dr Ulrike Bechtold covers research surrounding environmental plant, marine biology but is also very well versed with biochemistry.

She published numerous research articles such as The Origin of Land Plants Is Rooted in Two Bursts of Genomic Novelty (Bowles, AMC., Bechtold, U. and Paps, J., (2020)).
